Alistair Mitchell is a passionate mental health advocate, health, wellness and performance coach, sports welfare manager, motivational speaker and ambassador and program facilitator for the mental health charity LIVIN.ORG.
Alistair has a diverse background of corporate experience – the last 20+ years he has worked across a variety of industries and held senior management positions in business covering areas such as hospitality operations, project, construction, body corporate, safety and wellbeing management, however his true passion is helping others in their own journey of Wellbeing, which he has been actively involved in for the last 3 years.
Like many high achievers, Alistair’s private life suffered. He unknowingly suffered with severe anxiety, depression and bi-polar, walking a dark road almost taking his own life, before seeking help for these issues that long affected him. Alistair struggled through his dark period for several years before facing and conquering his demons.
To face his demons, Alistair knew he had to make serious change in his life. Alcohol and drugs had become his crutch; his way of dealing with everything, and his crutch was covering a number of very serious addictions.
He replaced these bad habits and addictions with exercise, natural foods and support of loved ones, and while on his journey to recovery trained in Mental Health, Health and Wellness coaching and became a motivational speaker. The honesty of sharing his story, Alistair has a unique ability to connect with all ages and demographics – whether it be your players, employees or students.
About Discovering the best you
We realise that everyone is different, and that mental health and wellbeing is not a “one size fits all” approach. Our programs and presentations help Schools, Businesses and Sports Clubs support their students, employees and players, at school, work or in everyday life.
People leave Alistair’s sessions inspired to make massive change, regardless of what challenges they may be facing. His enthusiasm is infectious, and along with being inspired to do and be better, they leave with practical tools they can implement daily to ensure they can go out and achieve them. They are inspired as well as empowered to go and take action. Comments such as “An outstanding and relatable speaker” are common.
Alistair is available for events and conferences as a motivational speaker where he openly shares his lived experience and road to recovery. Alistair shares his battles with living with multiple mental illnesses, beating drug and alcohol addiction and almost taking his own life, to now living his life to the fullest and helping others do the same.
